Maya 3D animation software offers a comprehensive creative feature set for 3D computer animation, modeling, simulation, rendering, and compositing on a highly extensible production platform. Maya has next-generation display technology, accelerated modeling workflows, and tools for handling complex data.
This course will focus on everything outside of animation, but prepare the student to utilize all of Maya’s powerful tools in their own creations and films.
*When downloading they ask for an educational institution because it is a free software to students for 1 year. You need to follow the instructions below.
Autodesk allows for many educational institutions to be used for downloading of their Maya software. Students must be 13. We are now an APPROVED Educational Institution!!! Follow their instructions to set up an account and use “The Animation Course” (Colbert) to get approved. We are under “University-Post-Secondary Education” for some reason. You may need our address as well, so ask me for that when you email me about the certificate. Let Kayla know that you need a “Certificate of Enrollment” to prove that you are a student of our courses. Contact us at kayla@theanimcourse.com to ask any questions. You will also need a 3-button mouse for Maya.

Software Requirements
The Student will need a free one year student license of Autodesk Maya. You can download it from our software page here.
Course Formats
1. Live Classes: Meets 1x/week with full access to teacher; homework is graded by a professional animator. 2 to 4 hours per week of additional live interactive opportunities such as Live Streaming sessions and Live Grader Q and A’s.
2. Recordings With Grading: Watch the recording anytime during the week of the live class with full access to teacher; homework is graded by a professional animator. 2 to 4 hours per week of additional live interactive opportunities such as Live Streaming sessions and Live Grader Q and A’s.
3. Recordings Only: Watch the recording anytime (all year round) but NO access to teacher and NO homework grading.

Session Dates
Sessions are usually around 12 weeks long.
There are three opportunities per year to attend a Live Class or view Recordings with Grading: Spring Session, Summer Session, and Fall Session.
